ЗАКЛЮЧЕНИЕ (фрагмент)

As was said in the introduction, the purpose of this work was to examine word pairs in English known as doublets. The doublets up for examination were not all the doublets found in the English language, rather, the focus here was on word pairs in which one word is of Latin, French or Scandinavian origin and the other of a native origin.
In spite of such a large number of loanwords, English has not lost its identity. It only has enriched its vocabulary in a better way.
The first attempts to identify the procedural causes of etymological doublets have been made in the emerging theoretical linguistics and the history of new European languages over three centuries ago, the study had a multiple nature, and by the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, their frequency has increased substantially.
